West Midland Light Orchestra
Celebrating the music of the 1930s to the 70s, from "The Great American Songbook" & "Songs from the Shows" to TV & film themes both familiar and new.
With an extensive repertoire of over 250 numbers - Gershwin, Cole Porter, Lerner & Loewe, Rogers & Hammerstein, Richard Carpenter & Ennio Morricone, WMLO cover a range of musical idioms in their own inimitable style, featuring both instrumentals and vocal numbers. This 45 piece orchestra could best described as "a Big Band with Strings", evoking the BBC Light Orchestras of the past - what Musical Director David Etheridge calls "orchestral jazz". So expect an evening of exuberant music, with urbane, witty & informative repartee from Master of Ceremonies Peter Tomlinson.
