The English Country Church
The change from the Tudor era to Protestant England is visible in church structures, as are the destructive changes of the Commonwealth era, the subsequent restoration & on to the present day. In this talk, the Rev Nicholas Henderson traces the development of church design from the Tudors to present day - showing how to 'read' the English country church as it changes through time. The Victorian Gothic revival & effects of the Oxford and Cambridge movements are examined in detail, ending with a brief look at contemporary changes to church design.
