Let There be Light

Let There be Light

How can you paint light? Art & Science have struggled to represent & understand it. Its meaning shifts from El Greco's light of spiritual ecstasy to Caravaggio's dangerous darkness, from Turner's sublime sunlight to Palmer'€™s melancholy moonlight. Stonehenge was built to worship the sun, now artists like Eliasson & Turrell make huge site-specific installations.

Art historian Alexandra Drysdale brings an artist's perspective to the investigation in this illustrated talk.
