Let There be Light
How can you paint light? Art & Science have struggled to represent & understand it. Its meaning shifts from El Greco's light of spiritual ecstasy to Caravaggio's dangerous darkness, from Turner's sublime sunlight to Palmer's melancholy moonlight. Stonehenge was built to worship the sun, now artists like Eliasson & Turrell make huge site-specific installations.
Art historian Alexandra Drysdale brings an artist's perspective to the investigation in this illustrated talk.
