Croome - past, restoration & future.
The 18th Century Croome Court, part-designed by Robert Adam & set in a park landscaped by Capability Brown, was the Earls of Coventry's sumptuous seat. Requisitioned in World War II & successively re-used as a school, Hare Krishna's UK headquarters, a conference centre, hotel & a golf course, Croome began the 21st Century in some disrepair. Now largely in the care of the National Trust, the estate's restoration as historic visitor attraction is well under way.
Michael Foster-Smith, Croome's General Manager, tells the tale of Croome's creation, fall & rise in this illustrated talk for The Arts Society Evesham
