This illustrated lecture will trace the development of Art Deco and the impact of Modernism in the 1920s and 1930s, through dress, architecture, interiors, furniture, glass, ceramics, metalwork and jewellery. Elegant, streamlined, functional and above all "new", they defined the style of their age. Dr Anne Anderson studied Art History and Archaeology at Leicester University, was an archaeologist for 8 years and specializes in the Aesthetic Movement, Arts and Crafts, Art Nouveau and Modernism. She is currently Hon. Research Fellow at Exeter University and her TV credits include BBC’s Flog It! <a href="">Art Deco</a>
