Saturday 14th February  -  An Evening of Comedy - presented by GSOH

The night that stand-up comedy came to Evesham Arts Centre!

An audience of well over a hundred had assembled to be amused, and amused we were.  No subject of importance was left untouched by the four comics: we debated the
pronunciation of "Evesham" (or is that "Eviesham"?), the importance of asparagus and the correct order for cutlery drawers with compere Jon Richardson, then the height of Dublin Port Tunnel and the state of Rugby with Caimh McDonnell (who isn't related to Father Ted). Later John Torrens considered why Batman isn't big in France, warned us of the dangers of being bald in HMV and gave us some little-known history of martial arts in Britain. Finally headline act Shappi Khorsandi just said funny, clever things so often it was difficult to keep up with them all.

Wednesday 15th February -  Aladdin - Miracle Theatre Co.
Well done ACE, great family entertainment, programmes only £1, we are still laughing about widow Twankey's culinary skills and wardrobe malfunction.
Looking forward to Miracle's Frightened Lady later in the year.

Sunday 5th March  -  "Over the Rainbow" - the Eva Cassidy story
The audience at Evesham Arts Centre gave a spontaneous standing ovation to this Eva Cassidy musical. We were taken on an emotional journey through the life of this Washington born artist from her happy childhood to her tragically
premiature death at the age of only 33 years.
This musical life story features over twenty-three of her best loved songs including 'Fields of Gold', Autumn leaves', Kathy's Song' and of course 'Somewhere over the Rainbow. This was a brilliant show performed by a first class cast of West End performers.
The singing was magical and the multi-talented cast treated us to a poignant, moving and most memorable evening.
- Marion Mc Gowan.

This performance of Eva Cassidy's life story at Evesham Arts Centre on 5th March was equal to a West End show.
The cast of eight were multi-talented. They could sing, act and played many musical instruments forming 'Eva's Band'. Eve cassidy was beautifully portrayed by Nicole Faraday. Her voice was fantastic, dare I say equal to 'The Eva Cassidy'. I kept pinching myself that this was actually taking place in Evesham.
The audience's response was a standing ovation to this brilliant show.

Friday 21st March - "I Dreamt I Dwelt in Marble Halls"
Well, I thought this was brilliant, a good story well staged & convincingly told. The set and the attention to detail was incredible (down to the occasional flicker of the cottage light). The players & the seamless role-changes from past to present were perfect. I had a really good evening's entertainment. Hope you didn't miss it!

Wednesday 17th May - "The Case of the Frightened Lady"
What a delight, we laughed from start to finish, great!! Good clean fun the funniest thing i have seen this year including tv, "enough to make you wet your pants" as my grannie used to say.

Sat 1st December 2007
- Wild Willy Barrett's Sleeping Dogz,
There were fiddling frenzies, Indian-style songs of seduction with cello & irish pipes, Russian-style songs with a balalika, barndance numbers about bookies, songs about baliffs, blues about one-legged women, spanish-style songs and a blue-grass banjo version of Knees-up Mother Brown: everything from whimisical & daft to dark and surreal. We got to shout choruses like "oi!", "chicken!" and "boris!", to watch the pipe & drum player run around the theatre for fun and to see (& hear) a guitar sawn up on stage. The band played fiddle, guitar, cello, drums, harmonimum, tin whistle, banjo, flute, a brass bowl & more. I think I speak for the rest of the audience when I say that we had a good time, a good laugh & good music from three talented musicians. Where were we? Evesham Arts Centre, last Saturday night, watching Wild Willy Barrett's Sleeping Dogz. If you weren't there, you missed something special.
